As a result of the compassionate care we deliver, we develop lasting relationships with our patients. Many times, we hear from our patients about how the doctors and staff at SPORT have helped them. For those of you we hear from, we thank you for passing along your kind words. Here are some of our favorites:
“After Dr. Berry reconstructed my ACL and MCL, I returned to high school football five months later, finishing strong and earning district honors. I still had more football to play and pursued my dream of playing Division 1 college football for Oklahoma State University.
We won the Big 12 Championship and two bowl games, including the BCS Fiesta Bowl in 2012. I wanted to thank Dr. Berry again for putting me back on the path to my dream and playing the game that I love!”
“I’m 62 and retired from training horses after 30 years due to injuries. I was in severe pain when sitting and needed a cane to walk more than 50 feet due to slippage of my knee joints. I tried Acuscope, Myoscope, wraps, braces, laser treatments and, of course, pain medication.
Dr. Berry took the time to explain his methods and the options to help solve issues in both knees. When I came to his office, I was looking at total knee replacements, but he suggested arthroscopic surgery to repair ligaments, cartilage, and tears in the structure of my knees, then shots to replenish fluids in the joint. He did the surgeries in October 2012 and then began the weekly shots. His procedures worked!
Today, I don't use a cane and I’m active. In those 30 years of horses and motorcycles, I’ve had 53 broken bones, so to be active today is truly a blessing! My knees were not my only pain, but they were keeping me from being mobile enough to compete and chase my grandchildren around. Dr. Berry has given me my life back and I’m grateful every time I take a step!”
“One of the lowest points in my life was when I tore my ACL during the spring of 2012. At the time it seemed like my athletic career as an ice hockey player, and my dreams, had ended. However, when Dr. Berry and the SPORT team entered my life, suddenly the impossible seemed graspable.
Through his profound dedication and vast medical expertise, Dr. Berry helped me physically and spiritually recover. Dr. Berry is a phenomenal doctor who takes time to listen to his patients and suggest the most efficient treatments. He’s not only an orthopedic surgeon, but also a great helper and mentor. He will do everything in his power to help his patients achieve their goals. He’s able to provide insight and advice that’s both helpful and applicable.
Through his support, along with the help of the SPORT group, I was able to fully recover and live my dream. Today, I attend the United States Naval Academy and am a collegiate athlete. But these dreams were only fulfilled though the help of God and his blessings, one of them being Dr. Berry and his team.”
“I threw out my right shoulder last year during the regular season and needed surgery to repair a slap tear. Spent a month in a brace, followed by six months of physical therapy. Thanks to Dr. Berry, I’m back on the field this year with varsity, feeling stronger and more confident than ever. We’re still in the playoffs and currently the 3A Regional Quarterfinal Champs. Thanks again for everything!”
“I was told by many friends and professionals that a complete tear of my rotator cuff, compounded by a bicep slap tear, would keep me in rehab for up to a year and that it would be a very painful and difficult journey. So, going into the surgery, I had a lot of fear of what might happen. Thankfully, Dr. Berry and his staff calmed me down and walked me through what to expect.
The surgery itself was no big deal at all; I was in and out the same day. Dr. Berry even found and cleaned out a bone spur while reattaching my rotator cuff and repairing my bicep. Four months later and I have full range of motion of my arm and only need to work at rebuilding the strength. My goal of lifting my daughter onto my shoulders is within reach after a short time.
My physical therapist told me that I was fortunate to have a surgeon that did such a great, clean job with minimal to no scarring, which contributed to my speedy recovery. After only four months, I have a hard time finding where the actual arthroscopic incisions were even made. It’s amazing what modern medicine and a competent staff can do these days.”
“Dr. Berry and his staff did a tremendous job helping me overcome an ACL tear. From my first appointment to the last appointment, everyone was kind and courteous throughout the entire process, making a terrible injury seem very manageable. It was clear their number one priority was to help get me back to full health as quickly as possible.
I can’t express how much I appreciate everything they did for me. The goal was to be able to play in the opening game of the season, which was accomplished! Everything Dr. Berry and his team did made this possible. Thanks to SPORT, I was back to 100% when the first pitch was thrown. It was such a pleasure to work with your team, a team that works together, is supportive and genuinely cares.”
“Dr. Berry is the absolute best sports medicine doctor our family has ever met. Our two sons play competitive soccer, as well as ride skateboards, mountain bikes, and race BMX. As a result, they’ve experienced injuries from time to time. From Sever’s disease to Osgood-Schlatters disease, muscle strains and ligament tears, Dr. Berry has been phenomenal in his treatment.
As a former competitive athlete, Dr. Berry fully understands the desire of an athlete to get back in the game and is able to treat the athlete quickly and efficiently so that he can return to the field as quickly as possible. In one particular injury, our youngest son was experiencing severe pain in his groin and Dr. Berry was the first and only doctor to accurately diagnose a sports hernia.”
“When I tore my ACL, I didn’t know it. We went to a doctor who said I’d have to wait until I was 15 for the procedure. One day at physical therapy I was introduced to Dr. Berry and he said he could do the procedure now. This made me happy, because now I’d be able to play sports again.
Dr. Berry had me going to physical therapy three times a week. Then came the surgery. Before they started, he explained to me what they were going to do and how it worked. When I woke up, everyone came in and greeted me. Dr. Berry also came in and said the surgery was a huge success. Although I was half asleep, I was happy! After a couple more months of physical therapy, he said I was good to go. Even though I was 10, Dr. Berry treated me like an adult.”
